Stay Connected- Children's Ministry During Covid-19
It’s time for VBS, and this summer we are Building God’s Kingdom!
How do we build our faith and build God’s kingdom? July 25-July 29, 6:00-7:30PM, join Fairmount Avenue UMC to learn all about the foundations of faith and to “Build God’s Kingdom.” We will have five evenings of creative construction, games, and experiments; we will hear from God how we can grow strong in our faith and use our strength to build God’s kingdom.
As some activities return to pre-pandemic participation, we will offer a hybrid program this summer. We will engage with videos of stories and pre-recorded guest speakers, as well as connect over hands-on, in-person activities. To ensure that we are able to do this safely, we will continue to follow COVID-19 protocols including:

To ensure that we are able to do this safely, we will continue to follow COVID-19 protocols including:
- Wearing face masks
- Requiring adult volunteer leaders to be vaccinated
- Conducting activities outdoors as much as possible
- Providing individual children with their own supplies, to minimize gathering around or sharing supplies
- What grade your child will be entering for the 2021-22 academic year;
- Your preferred method of communication (phone, email, Facebook, other social media, etc.);
- Whether your child will participate in-person or virtually.

Though we are not able to worship or participate in activities together during the Covid-19 outbreak, we will continue to offer opportunities for our children to learn, play, and grow in faith together.
Weekly Newsletter Parents of children grades PreK-5th will receive a weekly newsletter on Saturday afternoons with Children’s Ministries updates. These will include a brief Sunday School message and an activity for both our PreK-1st/2nd grade and 2nd/3rd-5th grade age groups. As we enter the month of April, we will continue our spiritual practices; each week the newsletter will feature an affirmation grounded in scripture, an invitation to reflect on our lives as they are represented and affirmed in the Bible. If you are not already receiving these newsletters, and would like to, please email Ashton Horsley, Director of Children’s Ministries, at [email protected]. Children’s Sermons Everyone is invited to live-stream worship at 10:30 AM on Sundays, and kids are invited to a Children’s Sermon with a special message just for them! Children’s Sermons to accompany worship will be pre-recorded and posted to Fairmount Avenue’s YouTube channel no later than 10:00 AM every Sunday. Search “Fairmount Avenue United Methodist Church” on YouTube to tune in! TGIW Activities from Afar All PreK-5th grade children are invited to connect over Zoom for “TGIW Activities from Afar.” We will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:00 PM. Simply download the Zoom app and join our meeting; the password will be “TGIW!”. Each evening we will begin with a Bible verse/lesson and a “show-and-tell” time for kids to highlight anything exciting from their week. We will talk and laugh and play games together, enjoying an opportunity for fellowship. |
